The Grand Hotel of Bordeaux

I had the immense pleasure and privilege of staying in the Grand Hotel of Bordeaux (5-stars). It is located in the sumptuous Place de la Comédie in the golden triangle right in the very heart of the city. The building was constructed in 1779 by Victor Louis in a Neoclassical style comprised of Corinthian colonnades. It is the very mind behind the grand theater that graces the façade of this hotel. The site is therefore a highly prestigious one, and you will have but one sole desire: to make your way past the entrance of the hotel and enter its doors to discover its marvels.

The Grand Hotel of Bordeaux

120 superior and ‘deluxe’ rooms with surface areas ranging from 25 to 35 m2, 20 junior suites of 45 m2 with a salon room, 5 prestige suites of 65 m2 featuring a salon and a private bar, 2 Executive Corner suites with a double view, 1 Suite Royale with a private entrance, salon, and terrace with a Jacuzzi with a 360-degree view over all of Bordeaux.

The décor of the hotel was designed by the renowned Jacques Garcia. Luxury and refinement accompany the ensemble of the rooms of the hotel, from the lobby to the rooms, from the spa to the restaurant, etc.

All of the rooms have been thought out and designed on the basis of distinct décors. From the choice of materials, colors, general room layout, to choice of furniture; those who regularly stay in the establishment will never receive the impression of finding themselves in a space identical to the previous one. Guests will therefore systematically discover in each room or apartment a décor arrayed in a unique style—XVIII or Empire, depending on each.

GASTRONOMY OF HAUTE COUTURE

Le Pressoir d’Argent

The restaurant offerings in the Grand Hotel & Spa of Bordeaux subscribe to a decidedly distinctive and high-end character, as well as a resolutely gastronomic one. These articulate themselves around the two restaurants Le Pressoir d’Argent (Michelin-starred) and the BRASSERIE L’EUROPE, which, under the direction of chef Pascal Nibaudeau, each pair in their own manner the treasures of the regional culinary palette with the inherent and prolific wealth of Bordeaux vineyards.

The head sommelier will be standing by to advise you on your choice of one of the over 400 varieties of wine available in the wine cave.

It is at the Brasserie L’Europe that you will be able to enjoy your breakfast in the morning. Here a buffet awaits, with the option for clients to request sweet or savory crêpes, not to mention an omelette made to order. This is a true criterion of excellence for a 5-star hotel. You will also be able to sample the local gourmet delicacy: the famous cannelé!

The Orangerie serves as the sunroom of the Grand Hotel & Spa of Bordeaux. Spacious and welcoming, it is like a true island of freshness where, in the shelter of a wide glass roof, flourishes an enchanting wealth of vegetation and luxurious greenery. Here you’ll be able to sample the astonishing Grape-leaf Tea of Bordeaux (Thé de Bordeaux à la Feuille de vigne). An offering exclusive to the Grand Hotel & Spa of Bordeaux!

You will also be able to discover on the side the Victor Bar, thus named in honor of the two Victors who have contributed to the myth of the Grand Hotel & Spa of Bordeaux: the architect Victor Louis and the writer Victor Hugo. And don’t forget to visit the private club Black Diamond.

THE FRENCH ART OF WELCOMING

The Art of Welcoming expresses itself as naturally thoughtful, authentic, and warm. A custom-designed approach that anticipates the desires of the guests and that never ceases to surprise them with personal attentions. For instance, I received upon arriving in my room several gourmet delicacies revolving around the cannelé, as well as some chocolates accompanied by fresh strawberries and a bottle of water. What a true delight!

There is even a reception dedicated to children! They will be given an adorable little backpack filled to the brim with a pacifier, sponge towel, soap, and gel. The hotel has even thought to craft little bath shoes for them! A true sense of detail for the reception of our little ones!
