The various careers in the hotel industry form a long tradition. The key to the success of many hotels comes down to the specific expertise that has been passed on from generation to generation. We may not always realize this, but these careers often date very far back, even if they have evolved over the years according to their generation. For many years, hotel employees would stay and work for the same hotel throughout their entire life. They would be knowledgeable about not only the hotel, but also its clients. These employees represent the memory of the hotel, and they would often convey their knowledge to new staff members. For luxury hotels, this was essential. This is what loyal clients, after all, continue to look for in luxury hotels; they seek to cultivate a relationship with the hotel’s staff, with the hope of being recognized during their stay. They love feeling like part of the family, as if they were in their own home.
