Best Memory Hotel manager

What is the most beautiful memory as Hotel General Manager ? Can you tell us an anecdote that you have experienced?

I remember that one of our guests, while visiting a museum around the city, didn’t have the chance to pick up a sprig of lavender. She was very disappointed at not being able to bring home this classic souvenir from the South.

Her smile, when I offered her a bunch of lavender when she left the hotel, left a simple but solid memory. She was overwhelmed by this small gesture, which made her feel as though she was much more than a client.

Biography of Pierre-Louis Renou :

A graduate of the Ecole Hôtelière de Glion in Switzerland and Harvard Business School in the United States, Pierre-Louis Renou became involved in the luxury hotel industry at an early stage of his career. Originally from a family of pâtissiers from La Baule, he developed a taste for fine cuisine during his first post as chef in the famous Michel Guérard restaurant in Eugénie-les-Bains.

He then joined the Concorde Hotel Group as Seminar and Banquet Sales Assistant for the Hôtel de Crillon, after which he was appointed Seminar and Banquet Sales Manager at the Concorde Saint-Lazare. In 1995, he became Director of Conferences and Special Events at Le Martinez in Cannes. Three years later, he joined the Hilton group, where, after first working at the Paris Hilton (once again in charge of seminars and conferences), he embarked upon a career abroad.

For four years, Pierre-Louis Renou gained experience in the British hotelindustry holding posts in a number of prestigious London hotels, firstly as Director of Operations in the Hilton London Paddington, then at the superb Sofitel Saint James. Having joined the Sofitel Group in 2005, he moved to the United States and spent two years as the Manager of the Sofitel Los Angeles, then became Managing Director of the Sofitel Washington Lafayette in February 2009, at the same time assuming responsibility for Sofitel’s North America communications department.

Pierre-Louis Renou is currently Managing Director of the Hotel Majestic Barrière and coordinator of the SFCMC’s (Société Fermière du Casino Municipal de Cannes) hotel operations.
